- Our concert (May 7) was terrific, just in case you hadn't heard any feedback.
The soloists were wonderful, and our guest performers were great.
(Alyn was so transported by the beauty of sound around her that she forgot to sing at least a couple of times.)
- New music:
- Johann Sebastian Bach: Cantata No. 131 – Aus der Tiefe rufe ich, Herr, zu dir. (From the deep, Lord, I cried to Thee.)
Victor Hely-Hutchinson (arr. J. Michael Diack): Old Mother Hubbard (Set in the manner of Handel)
- We are rehearsing next week (May 24). We might rehearse the week after that (May 31).

The nearest cross street is Tazewell St. The church is not visible from Glebe Rd, but there is a sign for the church on Glebe.

- The location for our May 7th concert is uncertain.
We were planning to have the concert at Calvary United Methodist Church in Crystal City,
but they will be having a spirited service with amplified music in the basement that evening.
We are hoping to have the concert at St. Peter's Episcopal Church (4250 North Glebe Rd, Arlington; near Chain Bridge).
St. Peter's is not available for a dress rehearsal that Saturday afternoon.
Several people at tonight's rehearsal had schedule conflicts with a dress rehearsal the preceding Saturday (April 29).
Saturday morning May 6th was preferred, so Louise will check to see whether the instrumentalists are available.
(She already knows that the 'cellist, Douglas Wolters, will not be available then.
And Louise will have to reschedule some students' lessons.)
- Wednesday, March 29, 2006
- Ralph Maxwell led our rehearsal tonight.
We went through a great deal of music.
We were short on altos tonight.
- Monday, March 27, 2006
- Louise is going to miss our rehearsal this week.
We will have a guest conductor — Ralph Maxwell, the music director for Sleepy Hollow Methodist Church, and director of the Linconia Chorus.
He knows our Guerrero well, and he's getting familiar with the Mozart, so you can expect that those will be the pieces we'll be working on this week.
- Wednesday, March 22, 2006
- Wednesday, March 15, 2006
- We devoted the entire rehearsal to the Mozart Missa brevis.
- Wednesday, March 8, 2006

- No rehearsal tonight – We're having dinner together at the Crystal Thai restaurant to celebrate Alyn's wedding.
- Wednesday, February 15, 2006
- We're considering the weekend of May 20/21 as a possible concert date, Sunday May 21 more likely that Saturday. Please check your calendars.

Please send email to
Brent
for the head-count if you haven't done so yet.

Spouses/partners/relatives/etc are welcome to join us. Send email to
Brent for the head-count.
- Possible date to sing at St. Mary, Mother of God Church (Chinatown) – June 11, the 2nd Sunday
in June.
This is during the DC Early Music Festival, and there will be a concert in the church at 2:30 that afternoon.
Several members already know of conflicts with that date, so it may not work out.
- Wednesday, February 1, 2006
- We have a new soprano!
Welcome Emilia Guevara!
(And she found our web site!)
- February 22 is the tentative date for our Ad-Hoc dinner to celebrate Alyn and Teman's wedding.
We're open to suggestions of where we should go.
The Crystal Thai restaurant, a couple of blocks west of Arlington Forest Church, is a strong contender.
- Wednesday, January 25, 2006
- We're considering singing at St. Mary, Mother of God Church (Chinatown) this spring.
Suggested factors were not during Lent (long sermons, and no sung Credo movements), after Daylight-Savings Time starts, and not Mother's Day.
The sung masses are the 2nd Sundays of the month.
- New music:
- Francisco Guerrero: Hei mihi! Domine (SSATTB)
- John Alcock: Out of the Deep (SAB)
- Wednesday, January 18, 2006
- We were hoping to take Alyn and Teman out to dinner sometime soon to celebrate their marriage, but Teman has severe
tinnitus and the noise level in public places like restaurants is physically painful for him.
We're still planning to take Alyn out to dinner, perhaps on some upcoming Wednesday evening.
- New music:
- Thomas Tallis: O nata lux de lumin (O Light of light) (SATTB) (not really new; in A Tallis Anthology – the red book)
- Zoltán Kodály: Mountain Nights (Hégyi Ejszákak) from Songs without words for women's voices (SSA)
- Wednesday, January 11, 2006

- arr. Ruth Elaine Schram: Medieval Noel (SATB)
- arr. Audrey Snyder: Three Spanish Carols (SAB)
- Riu Riu Chiu
- Va Viene la Vieja
- Louise still has CDs of our November 6th concert for those of you who haven't been to a rehearsal recently....
- Wednesday, December 21, 2005
- We sang at Goodwin House tonight.
Our audiences were very appreciative.
- We are not rehearsing next week, Wednesday Dec 28.
Our next rehearsal is January 4, 2006.
Happy Holidays, everyone!
- Wednesday, December 14, 2005
- We will be giving 2 separate programs next week at Goodwin House.
Please arrive by 7:30 PM.
We'll sing at 7:40.
We will be met by AUDRA.
When you come in, find your way to the MAIN DESK.
(From the "Resident and Visitor Entrance", the Main Desk is some distance down a hall to the right.
There is another entrance very close to the Main Desk.)
From the Main Desk, go to the Elevators.
PAST and behind the Elevators is a large Living Room where we will gather.
