Last Season (2003-2004)

Nancy Mulenex died Thursday night, July 15. Her
memorial service was Sunday, July 25, at All Souls Memorial Episcopal Church in Washington, DC.
Sunday, June 27, 2004 the Ad Hoc Singers' season ended with a concert at the Dominican Retreat's annual fundraiser in McLean, VA. There was also a violin/piano duet, members of the Friday Morning Music Club. I recorded our portion of the concert. Unfortunately, there's a lot of background noise. (There are MP3 files.) [Pictures]

Saturday, June 12, 2004 Jane invited us to her home on the shores of the Occoquan River, and it was a lovely afternoon. The weather was perfect, the food was varied and terrific, and we had some fun singing too. To top it all off, Nancy was able to join us! [Pictures]

Sunday, February 8, 2004 we sang for the 5pm Tridentine Latin Mass [more] [more] at St. Mary, Mother of God Church in Chinatown, Washington, DC. We sang portions of the Missa Pange Lingua by Josquin des Prez, Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina's motet Tu es Petrus, and In jejunio et fletu by Thomas Tallis. (I have some MP3 files from our rehearsal 4 Feb.)

Sunday, Jan 25, 2004, we gave a concert (program and recordings) at Calvary United Methodist Church in Arlington, VA (Crystal City). The weather was threatening (and there was a good bit of snow on the ground by the end), but a small audience were not put off by the weather service's forecasts. It was a good concert, and our guest artists (Karl Hempel, bass, and Douglas Wolters, 'cello) gave fine performances.

Founded in 1975, the Ad Hoc Singers is an amateur chamber chorus devoted to traditional choral literature from the 15th through the 20th centuries, with some emphasis on Renaissance masses and motets. We perform regularly at churches and other locations throughout the area. We rehearse Wednesday evenings from September through May in Arlington, VA. Good sight readers interested in joining the group should call Louise Lee at 703-538-2557 to set up an audition.
